Getting there: Transportation in Vienna
The PrepCom is going to be held in the Austria Center
in Vienna, Bruno-Kreisky-Platz 1, A-1220 Vienna, Austria. The Austria
Center is next to the United Nations in Vienna, and has a tunnel
connecting it to the UN.
Vienna has an excellent public transportation
system, and the U1 underground line travels directly to
the site of the NPT PrepCom (the Kaisermuhlen-Vienna International
Center stop). See a map of the Vienna public transportation here:
http://progs.wiennet.at/contentfiles/wl_verkehrsnetz.pdf
You can buy a single ride on the public transport
system for 1.50 Euro; a 24-hour unlimited ticket for 5.00 Euro;
or a 72-hour unlimited ticket for 12.00 Euro. You can buy these
tickets from vending machines in underground stations, tobacconists,
and the Vienna Transport Authority.
The underground is also friendly to disabled
passengers, and all the stations have an elevator. More
information on travelling in Vienna with a disability is available
at Vienna City Hall, and in a downloadable word document here: http://b2b.wien.info/data/access-service-e.doc
