Statement of the Arnbassador of Peru Mr. Jorge Voto-Bernales to the Conference on Disarmament 28/6/01


1 have asked for the floor to thank you for your expressions of solidarity under the tragic circumstances Peru is experiencing as a result of the terrible earthquake and the aftershocks we continue suffering. Our country thanks all of our compatriots and the help that my country has received in the international community. It is my delegation's sincere wish sir that the efforts and resources mobilized nationally and internationally in the face of a natural disaster such as the one experienced by Peru will be an example for the prevention of other types of disasters.
1 am pleased sir to see you providing over the work of this Conference and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you the best of success in your work as well as to pledge to you the full support of the delegation of Peru in your work. Thank you sir.
