Unofficial transcription of 9 February statement by Japan to the CD, Ambassador Yoshiki Mine

Thank you Mr. President.

Our delegation, a few days ago, emphasized that we think the FMCT is a priority and we just referred to other items. And what the Canadian colleague has raised is quite related to how this matter is going to be dealt with. I hope I am clear, from your explanation, but as I understand from the timetable as you have explained, we understand that we would look at such issues as FMCT and others, for example nuclear disarmament, in the first cluster, in the first topic. That is the time allocated for the Presidency of the Republic of Korea. So the agenda item 1 and 2 certainly should deal with FMCT, therefore we understand that we would be able to focus on that matter with others, and that would also be the case during the Presidency of Romania. I hope this understanding is correct.

Thank you.

I thank Ambassador Yoshiki Mine for his statement, and I agree with your last sentence.
