Unofficial Statement
Thank you Madame President. Madame President, we would once again like to thank you for your efforts in trying to move the work regarding the program of work of the Conference on Disarmament forward. You have presented new documents today. We will take a look at these carefully, get instruction from Capital, and to revert to you in this regard. And we note your comment where you say that you do not expect immediate actions today.
We would just like to make one point. We would like to thank the Secretary General for his message as well. In the document that has been circulated as the Secretary General’s message, at the end there are two words: compromise and accommodation. While there is a great deal of effort being made by all of us to compromise, there appears to be a lesson degree of emphasis on accommodation. We need to have the greatest amount of accommodation visible in this Conference in order to ensure that we can all work together. As the Ambassador of Egypt said, “To take on board the concerns of all delegations to move forward.” I’m sure the Secretary General would appreciate the fact that there are some very critical and crucial concerns expressed here in the Conference on Disarmament by Member States of the Conference on Disarmament regarding specific issues on L1 which are of direct relevance to their national security. That being said, we will revert back to you with our specific comments on your proposal.
Thank you.
