to the Conference on Disarmament 31st January 2008
Unofficial Transcript
First of all, the Chinese delegation would like to congratulate my Colombian neighbour for joining CTBT. This is a very satisfying progress.
Secondly CTBT is like CD touches all the important work like all the work that is in the framework of the CD, they are all important components of international regime for arms race and nuclear disarmament control and disarmament regime. We hope that progress can be made in all these regimes.
Thirdly as far as China is concerned, like I spoke last time with regard to work of CD. we have also adopt a constructive position and attitude, we hope that CD will achieve substantial progress and start substantive work as soon as possible.
Likewise with regards to CTBT we also adopt a constructive position. Although as Beijing or parliament is concerned we are still in the process of reviewing the final ratification of CTBT, yet I can say in a positive term that we with regard to framework of CTBT especially in terms of the constructions of these certified stations including IMS work, data transmissions as well as OSIs. In all these areas we have made substantial progress. In other words although we are still reviewing CTBT approval yet we at this stage are working what we have done so far has already exceeded the requirements of the CTBT as obliged as set in the CTBT. Therefore this fully shows our constructive commitment to CTBT.
In summary, China has all along worked in its own manner to make its contribution to the international progress to nuclear disarmament and we also hope that this will be reflected in the dynamism of the CD. In short, we are ready to join others to in promoting CD and other work related to disarmament so that we can achieve substantial progress at an early date.
