Statement by Mr Mohamed Bel Kefi of Tunisia to the Conference on Disarmament 2nd September 2008

Thank you very much.

I would like to thank you most warmly for the kind words you had for the Ambassador Labidi who has just been appointed as Minister of Youth and Sports, and for your wishes of success in his new assignment that I shall not fail to pass onto him.

Mr Labidi did not have time to meet you before he had to go back as Minister and he has entrusted me to show you and to all of his colleagues and friends here to express his thanks for the support extended to him by the members of the Disarmament, P6,and the members of the Secretariat and he expresses the wish that he was able to do his best with your cooperation to continue with the best possible contribution of Tunisia for the work of the Conference over the course of year which was particularly important for the work of the CD.

He also asked me to pass onto you his kind words, encouragement and best wishes and success for the work of the Conference on Disarmament. Finally, he was not able to come back to Geneva before the end of your work but he hopes to do so, over the course of the next few weeks to bide you goodbye.
