Thank you, Mr. President.

I would like to join others in extending our thanks and congratulations for the successful efforts of you and your team to achieve consensus on our annual report. I would also like to extend a special gratitude to your predecessor Ambassador Millar, for her dedicated and tireless efforts to move the process forward in the process of discussion over the past few month. Her efforts are very much appreciated.

As has been noted by previous speakers, as which has always, as Ambassador Jazaïry has articulated so astutely, we consider it of utmost importance to use the next few months to prepare the ground for early agreement on a Programme of Work in 2010 and immediate commencement of substantive work thereafter.

It is clear that members will continue to harvest specific interests and concern about elements of next year’s work. I will therefore take this opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the US Delegation in which we look forward to working closely with the p6 and all members to ensure that in 2010 the CD will continue the path of progress over the next few weeks and reembarqued upon this year. We hope and trust that we will share this commitment with a collective determination by to move the CD forward.
