Thank you very much, Mr. President.

Since this is the first time my delegation has taken the floor during your term in office, allow me to congratulate you on assuming the presidency of the Conference on Disarmament. Considering this we would like to extend our full cooperation to you.

On May 29 this year we had an historic event of adopting the Programme of Work of this Conference, after many long years of inaction, which sent out an optimistic message concerning the work of the CD.

Following on in this spirit my delegation would like to express and reaffirm our hope that in the future the flexibility and the resolve to move forward, and respect for the rules of procedure as well as constructive dialogue and the search for consensus, all will prevail and dominate in the work of our conference, and would allow us to move forward in to the implementation of the Programme of Work.
