Mr. Jayantha Dhanapala, former Under-Secretary General of the UN Department for Disarmament Affairs offers the introduction to the booklet. *The News in Review: News in Review (NIR) is the daily newsletter produced during the NPT Preparatory Committee and Review Conferences by WILPF. News in Review intentionally broadens the debate to include NGO critique of energy, transport, mining and waste issues, in addition to weapon related concerns. This compendium collects the best of the News in Review from the Review Conference in 2000, showing how the NPT is one of the most important routes through which change on the nuclear front will happen on weapons, but also energy, transport, mining and waste.
